For this task we were asked to create a storyboard which would be the structure/ basis of the trailer which would be refined as the course of putting it into production. We would then insert these storyboards into an existing trailer so we can understand how they work. This part of the pre-production stage is very important we would want the viewer to know/ watch more as the adrenaline thrill from watching a horror trailer makes them curious.
story board
The storyboard is the structure to the trailer. Each scene has annotations of what would happen in the scene such as what type of camera shot, sound etc. It consists of cross cutting from scenes. The storyboard is trying to convey a series of events and get the viewer to become interested in a short period of time. The only issues that occurred when drawing out the storyboard is character identification making sure that it's clear between who is who and being able to draw the correct shots. The storyboard for the trailer is supposed to take the viewer on a journey to intrigue the audience into watching the film without giving away the full storyline as it is an advertisement.

From the existing Smiley trailer I decided to break it down into shots this would give us an idea and a pathway to use as a structure when creating our trailer, furthermore, the use of timing was important when it came how long each shot would be making sure that it stayed within the time frame.
photo animaticAbove is the photo animatic from the pictures taken below I put them in Adobe premiere and was able to match them up with the correct shots and their timing. Below is a photo board i created this is so that we could have an idea of what the trailer would look like. These pictures are tso they we could have a reference of what it may look like before we film. I gathered together a group of classmates to take part. I took these photos when around the college.

Above is the storyboard animatic linking the shots to the correct places and making sure it is timed correctly. I used a software called Adobe Premiere to put this together. This would be the basis of our trailer when we start to film it just to give us an idea what are final polished trailer would look like once filmed. When it comes to that stage we could adjust the timing of each shot to suit what's in the shot.
To the right is the original smiley trailer off youtube. This trailer was picked because of it's rapid changes from quiet and how the shots are timed.
