Considering that our sub genre for our horror trailer is splatter, costumes and make up is especially vital as it incorporates components of torment, blood and realistic repulsiveness which is what splatter is all about. Before we start to film for our trailer, we need to arrange for how each of our characters are going to resemble. As well as ensemble and make up, props are just as essential to make the trailer additionally alarming, we also talk about each character in a way where the audience can understand the cast members motives and personalities. Through this stage we will be looking at other slasher trailers to see how they incorporated costume & make up and how the snippet effective the part time in the trailer. We will also be experimented and looking at Youtube SFX Makeup Tutorials for inspiration and help.

Costume & MAKE UP IDEAS
With their costume is more about name brands and all things that are trendy or in fashion at this moment. Their characters have the persona that they should say relevant and always be on top of everyone else with their style and swag. The colour that they wear aren't often dark but they aren't afraid to wear dark colour and love to experiment with different colours and styles. For the make up we are thinking of normal make up that girl wear and normally with popular girl they have to make sure that their make up is on 'fleek' which consist of eyebrows, mascara and eyelashes.

sUPPORTING cAST
These characters are even friends of Alice's or friends of Shanice and Jasmine, as we trying to paint the picture that the scenery is in a college we need more that just 3 students, their costume and make up is tampered with as much as they are meant to look normal and part of the young society so most of their clothes is the daily casual wear and daily make up depending on what type of college character they are.

Inspirational make Up Tutorials / Images |
|
I started looking for videos where I could make small scars or scratches so that it looked like someone was self harming them self ,which is perfect for Alice's character, through all the videos that shows me how to make small cut I would say that this one is the best so far, even though the equipment that they use isn't liquid latex base it is easy to apply with any material that your choose to use and it also help you learn and create new techniques on how to do things, Another point that it is very quick it isn't something that would take 12 hours or a day it’s something that can be doing in 30 minutes to an hour.

I then started to look at things that could help with the costume, things that could make our slasher a bit more scary. Which lead me to this tutorial, what I liked most in this tutorial is that the person who was creating made me feel like I was in the room with her , her approach was very calm which almost gives the illusion that is wasn't a tutorial because it was relaxed and natural. I also love how while she was staying the steps she was pressuring you to do it her way but adjusting it to make it your own as well.

With this tutorial I like the idea that it looks very gruesome, when I saw this I automatically thought that it would be perfect for Dr Barbitus consider that he was tortured at age by his bullying in college so he would have all types of scars and bruises which would make him appeal as scary. this tutorial was fairly simple to follow as the steps was clearly presented in the video and it is easy to make whether on the spot or make for pre made make-up.

Experimentation |
|
We do experiments to gain knowledge on what is is that we are creating and in order to remember the steps that we took in order to be able to reproduce it if we need to when making the real one for the trailer, here are a few experiments that I did.
Scars - MAke up
Bloody Shirt - Costume
Self Harming Marks - Make up
Pills & Froth
We wanted to create the illusion that one of the characters is tempted to take drugs, due to the fact that we can't actually use drugs, I decided to use get tick tic as options and get empty painkiller wrappers so that it would look like the character took a alot. also to show that she was overdosed , we wanted froth to come out her mouth so we thought toothpaste would be a safe way, as it foams up quickly and it something that goes inside peoples mouths on a daily, making it completely harmless.
|
Outcomes
Most of the outcomes were pre-make , so many of them look the same because they are all done on my arm but I did it this way so that when it comes down to filming we wouldn't waste time trying to get the make up done in time.

Evaluation |

Overall I think the make up stage went well, there were some difficult times during the process like waiting for latex to dry, finding the right colour of make up to fit the character and using spirit gum, but things things were easily look over and passed on and I carried on practising and experimenting. I would say that by pre making most of scars and make up did save a lot of time but it also came with its challenges, like make sure its the characters complexion, making sure the length of the scar or the latex it self is suitable for the character, which requires lots of pre planning and organisation. If I could improve on something it would be to include more exaggerated costume, so that the audience would remember the characters a bit more and to add more gruesome make up, due to the fact that it is a slasher trailer there is often many shots of blood gushing scene. However I am happy with what I have created and doing make up and costume was a fun process
